Schmidt Point

Schmidt Point (48˚42'00" 123˚24'00" E end of Piers I, off N tip of Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). Named in 1965 by the hydrographic service after Wilhelm Schmidt, who obtained Piers I (qv) by Crown grant in 1880 and homesteaded there with his family. Wilhelm Point on Piers I is also named for him. Schmidt transferred ownership of the property to his wife, Amie, in 1886, and she sold it to John Bethune in 1897 for $1,510.
