Salient Point

Salient Point (53˚28'00" 128˚23'00" N side of Europa Reach, Gardner Canal, SE of Kitimat). This feature was originally named Bold Point but was changed by the hydrographic service in 1952 to avoid duplication. Salient, meaning “important” or “notable,” might be considered a synonym for “bold.” The word can also mean “pointing or projecting outward,” however, as in an angle or part of a fortification. A creek and two mountains in BC have this name as well.
