Port Graves


Port Graves (49˚28'00" 123˚21'00" S side of Gambier I, E of Centre Bay, Howe Sd, NW of Vancouver). In 1859–60, Capt George Richards named many features in Howe Sd after participants in the Glorious First of June, a 1794 British naval victory over the French. Vice Adm Thomas Graves (1726–1802) was second-in-command of the Channel fleet, under Lord Howe, at that battle and was rewarded by being named Baron Graves of Gravesend.
