Port Alice


Port Alice (50˚23'00" 127˚27'00" E side of Neroutsos Inlet, Quatsino Sd, NW end of Vancouver I). The Whalen Pulp & Paper Co built a pulp mill at this location in 1917 and named the townsite after Alice Whalen (1851–1922, née Broad). Alice was the mother of the entreprenurial Whalen brothers, from Port Arthur, Ont, who developed a short-lived pulp-mill empire in BC.
