Pendrell Sound


Pendrell Sound (50˚15'00" 124˚43'00" Nearly bisects E Redonda I, N of Desolation Sd, NE of Campbell R). It has been speculated that railroad promoter Alfred Penderell Waddington (see Waddington Bay) is the source of this name, but the suggestion is completely unproven. Water temperatures in the sound are the warmest on the BC coast in summer, the result of a lack of current, tidal exchange and wind, and can reach 26˚C.
