Pay Bay

Pay Bay (52˚59'00" 132˚19'00" W side of Hibben I, off NW Moresby I, QCI). This body of water was named Rocky Bay when originally surveyed in 1852 by Capt Augustus Kuper of HMS Thetis. It was renamed much later by the hydrographic service to avoid duplication. The name Pay Bay refers to the fact that two of the small islands in the bight, Luxmoore and Rogers (qv), commemorate RN paymasters who were aboard Thetis at the time of the 1852 survey.
