Octopus Islands

Octopus Islands (50˚17'00" 125˚13'00" Off NE side of Quadra I, in Okisollo Channel, N of Campbell R). According to a note at BC’s Geographical Names Office, the name is likely descriptive of the islands’ shape. The two largest islands are privately owned, but the smaller islands and two sections of adjacent Quadra I comprise a 760-ha provincial marine park, established in 1974. A portage trail leads from Waiatt Bay to the W side of Quadra I.
