Nyggard Point


Nyggard Point (52˚09'00" 127˚34'00" SE side of King I, E of Bella Bella). This name is a misspelling of Nygaard. Jakob J Nygaard (1845–1904) was one of the original Norwegian pioneers who settled the Bella Coola valley in 1894. Like many of the colonists, he had earlier immigrated to Minnesota, where he worked as a tailor, but he was unhappy with life on the American prairie.
