North Vancouver


North Vancouver (49˚19'00" 123˚04'00" N side of Burrard Inlet, just N of Vancouver). Named after Capt George Vancouver (see Vancouver for a brief biography). N Vancouver is in the traditional territory of the X’muzk’i’um (Musqueam) and Skxwúmish (Squamish) First Nations. The community got its start in the early 1860s when the Pioneer sawmill was established.
