Nesbitt Rock


Nesbitt Rock (53˚26'00" 129˚53'00" Entrance to Mink Trap Bay, W side of Pitt I). John Arthur Nesbitt (1916–67) was a wireless operator and radio technician aboard CGS William J Stewart, 1937–40. In 1939 he was sent to Seattle and Oakland to learn the latest techniques of radio acoustic ranging, an early non-visual navigation system. Nesbitt died at Vancouver. Formerly known as Greentop Rk but renamed in 1944.
