Morrow Island


Morrow Island (51˚37'40" 127˚45'45" N side of Fish Egg Inlet, between Rivers Inlet and Fitz Hugh Sd). Named in 1992 for RCAF flying officer Hugh Francis Morrow, who was killed in action on June 17, 1944, aged 22, on a bombing raid over the Netherlands. Born and raised in Vancouver, Morrow was serving with RCAF No 432 Squadron, which operated Handley Page Halifax Mk III heavy bombers for most of 1944. He is buried at Gorssel General Cemetery in the Netherlands.
