Millar Channel


Millar Channel (49˚19'00" 126˚04'00" E of Flores I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named in 1934 after Rev J L Millar, Presbyterian missionary and principal of the Ahousat residential school. The boarding school replaced the older day school in 1904–5, and Rev J C Butchart was its first principal. Millar took over the operation about 1906–9, and his wife also worked there as assistant teacher. In 1910 he was transferred to Manitoba as principal of the Portage la Prairie residential...
