McPhail Point


McPhail Point (48˚36'00" 123˚31'00" W side of Saanich Inlet, NW of Brentwood Bay and Victoria). Angus McPhail (1809–84), a Gaelic-speaking HBC employee from Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, came to Canada in 1837, sailing from the Orkney Is to York Factory on the Prince Rupert and then travelling overland to Ft Langley, where he worked from 1838 to 1846.
