McKiel Rock


McKiel Rock (50˚04'00" 127˚36'00" SW of Bunsby I, Checleset Bay, NW side of Vancouver I). Records at BC’s Geographical Names Office suggest that this feature commemorates John McKiel (or McKeil), a member of the crew of the sealing schooner Maggie Mac, which was lost off the NW coast of Vancouver I in 1892 with all hands.
