McConnachie Shoal


McConnachie Shoal (52˚50'00" 131˚57'00" In Pacofi Bay, E side of Moresby I, SW of Louise I, QCI). Named by the hydrographic service in 1947 after the manager of the Pacofi fish plant. This troubled project was built in 1909 by the Pacific Coast Fisheries Co to freeze fresh fish and produce fish oil and fertilizer but was plagued by poor weather and financial problems. McConnachie, whose first name is unknown, was in charge there in 1910–11.
