McBride Bay


McBride Bay (50˚43'00" 125˚26'00" Head of Loughborough Inlet, between Knight Inlet and Bute Inlet). Dr Alexander McBride (d 1898) was assistant surgeon on HMS Bacchante, flagship of Rear Adm Sir Thomas Maitland, cdr-in-chief on the Pacific Station, 1861–62. He was promoted to surgeon in 1865 and fleet surgeon, retired, in 1876. Named by Capt George Richards of the RN survey vessel Hecate about 1862.
