Mazarredo Islands


Mazarredo Islands (54˚05'00" 132˚33'00" W side of Virago Sd, N side of Graham I, QCI). This group of islands was named in 1907 by Capt Frederick Learmonth of HMS Egeria while re-surveying Virago Sd. An early Spanish name for the sound, bestowed in 1792 by explorer Jacinto Caamaño, had been Puerto Mazarredo, and this name was adopted as Port Maseredo by Capt George Vancouver.
