Matchlee Bay


Matchlee Bay (49˚37'00" 126˚04'00" SE end of Muchalat Inlet, S of Gold R, W side of Vancouver I). Named after the First Nation reserve at the head of this bay near the mouth of the Burman R. The word is believed to be a variant of muchalee, which is the original Nuu-chah-nulth name for the Gold R valley, according to author George Nicholson.
