Mamie Rock


Mamie Rock (51˚19'00" 127˚35'00" E of Central I, Smith Sd, N of Port Hardy). The tiny 55-tonne steamer Mamie, built at New Westminster in 1887, hit this rock in 1897, under Capt Henry Smith, while carrying a load of fresh salmon from Quascilla Bay to Rivers Inlet. Named by Capt John Walbran of the Dept of Marine and Fisheries, who examined the rock in 1903.
