Mahope Point


Mahope Point (50˚06'00" 127˚34'00" W of Bunsby Is, Checleset Bay, NW of Kyuquot Sd, NW side of Vancouver I). This feature is named after a former Nuu-chah-nulth fishing station and summer camping site located at the mouth of a river that enters Checleset Bay near the point. The area is now a reserve belonging to the Ka:’yu:’K’t’h/Che:K’tles7et’h’ (Kyuquot/Checleset) First Nation. The name was adopted in 1947.
