Magneson Point


Magneson Point (52˚46'00" 132˚02'00" S side of Tasu Sd, W side of Moresby I, QCI). Louis Magneson (1862–95), from Norway, was master of the Victoria sealing schooner Walter A Earle (formerly called the Sylvia Handy), which was lost with all 32 hands during a severe gale on Apr 14, 1895, off Cape St Elias in the Gulf of Alaska.
