Macneill Point


Macneill Point (52˚58'00" 132˚11'00" E entrance to Mitchell Inlet, Kuper Inlet, NW Moresby I, QCI). This feature, despite the spelling discrepancy, is presumed to be named for HBC chief factor William Henry McNeill. In 1851, when the HBC became aware that there was gold on the QCI, Gov James Douglas sent the Una, under Capt Willie Mitchell, to the discovery site with a party of miners.
