Macdonald Island (52˚58'00" 129˚41'00" W of Dewdney I, Estevan Group, S of Banks I, Hecate Str). Josephine Macdonald (1858–1945) was born at San Francisco and came to the gold-rush town of Port Douglas at the head of Harrison Lk with her parents in 1860. In 1880 she married Fraser York (1858–1942), whose family had arrived at Nanaimo from England in 1854 and who was born at Yale, where his father had built a boarding house.
