Lempriere Bank


Lempriere Bank (52˚23'00" 129˚02'00" Laredo Sd, S of Aristazabal I). Lt Arthur Reid Lempriere was an officer in the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers that served in BC 1858–63. He studied engineering at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, becoming a 2nd lt in 1853, and spent much of the Crimean War at Heligoland, an island and former British colony off the German coast, used as a British military depot during the Russian conflict.
