Leavitt Lagoon (53˚21'00" 129˚38'00" Head of Port Stephens, SW side of Pitt I). Flight Lt Robert Frederick Leavitt, from Regina, joined the RAF in 1939 and was attached to the photographic reconnaissance unit of Bomber Command. In 1941, while undertaking a mission along the coast of Norway, his plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire and Leavitt suffered a head injury.
