Lambert Point (54˚06'00" 130˚05'00" S entrance to Skeena R, E of De Horsey I, SE of Prince Rupert). Named Point Lambert by Capt George Vancouver in 1793 after “commissioner Lambert of the navy.” Capt Robert Lambert (d 1810) was appointed commissioner at Jamaica in 1782, the same year that Vancouver was stationed there. He had been promoted to capt in 1760 and was listed as retired in 1790, with a handsome pension of £250 a year. The feature is known locally as Vancouver Point.
