Kvarno Island


Kvarno Island (48˚58'00" 125˚35'00" Head of Ucluelet Inlet, near NW entrance to Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). John Hartwick Kvarno (1867–1944) was born in Norway and immigrated to the US with his parents. In the early 1890s he and fellow Norwegian August Lyche (see Lyche I) made a trip to the W coast to look for land they could settle on and farm.
