Kutcous Islets


Kutcous Islets (49˚15'00" 126˚04'30" Just SE of Kutcous Point), Kutcous Point (49˚15'00" 126˚05'00" SE tip of Flores I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named after a reserve at this location of the Ahousaht First Nation, a member of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council. The Wild Side Heritage Trail runs past the point, and according to Stanley Sam Sr, the Ahousaht author of the trail guidebook, the name Kutcous (or Katkwuuwis) means to “cut people’s heads off.” It refers to a long,...
