Kittyhawk Group


Kittyhawk Group (51˚49'53" 128˚11'09" W side of Kildidt Sd, off SW end of Hunter I, S of Bella Bella). In 1944 a number of islands in the vicinity of Queens Sd were named after WWII aircraft (see Hurricane I for more details). The Kittyhawk was the name given to later variations of the US-made Curtiss P-40 single-engine fighter. Almost 14,000 P-40s were built, 1938–44.
