Kawas Islets


Kawas Islets (52˚38'00" 131˚25'00" E of Lyell I, off E side of Moresby I, QCI). Kawas comes from the Haida word for “sea eggs” and was also the name of a subdivision of the Sta’stas Eagle crest, which lived along the N shore of Graham I. Chief Albert Edensaw (or Idansaa), whose Haida name was Gwaayang Gwanhlin, was a prominent member of this tribal group.
