Kate Rocks


Kate Rocks (49˚59'00" 127˚19'00" SW of Union I, entrance to Kyuquot Sd, NW side of Vancouver I). The Kate was a well-known W coast sealing schooner, originally owned by pioneer sealer Capt James Warren. The vessel was active in the industry from about 1882 until at least 1897 and may have worked in BC waters as a coastal trader even earlier (several ships in the area had the word Kate in their names). The Kate was apparently visible as a wreck in Victoria’s Inner Hbr until the early 1900s....
