Kaien Island


Kaien Island (54˚17'00" 130˚18'00" Between Digby I and Tsimpsean Peninsula, at Prince Rupert). Kaien, a traditional Tsimshian First Nation name for the island, was adopted in 1892 when Prince Rupert Hbr (then called Tuck Inlet) was examined. According to N coast Anglican missionary William Collison, the word referred to a damp place with much fallen timber.
