John Passage


John Passage (48˚41'06" 123˚23'22" Between Coal I and Goudge I, off NE Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria), John Rock (48˚40'56" 123˚23'20" Off SE end of Goudge I). Richard John (1826–92), a native of Wales, immigrated to the US and worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines before joining the California and Fraser R gold rushes. He apparently did well enough to be able to buy 250 ha of land at N Saanich about 1869 and settle there with his wife, Ann (1823–1902, née Graer), and their family....
