Jenkins Point


Jenkins Point (52˚06'00" 130˚58'00" E side of Kunghit I, SE of Rainy Is, QCI). Named for Capt William H Jenkins, who was master of the cargo ship Keeweenah, which foundered off the entrance to Juan de Fuca Str during the great gale of Dec 1894, accompanied by the Montserrat, under Capt David Blackburn. Many vessels were destroyed in this storm, and wreckage was spread up and down the BC coast. Pieces from the Keeweenah and Montserrat were found in Rose Inlet in May 1895. All hands on both...
