Ivory Island


Ivory Island (52˚17'00" 128˚24'00" Milbanke Sd, NW approach to Seaforth Channel). The first BC lighthouse N of Vancouver I was built at this remote spot in 1898. Few keepers stayed there very long, as the station was exposed to the open Pacific and was badly damaged by tidal waves in 1904 and 1962, and by a violent storm in 1982.
