Inskip Islands


Inskip Islands (48˚27'00" 123˚26'00" N of Ashe Head, Esquimalt Hbr, W of Victoria). Robert Mills Inskip 
(d 1900) was a naval instructor who served on the Pacific Station, 1843–47, aboard HMS Fisgard, under Capt John Duntze. His surveys of Esquimalt Hbr were designed to teach technical skills to junior officers. After returning to England he became a clergyman but continued in the RN and promoted an improved system for educating naval cadets that eventually resulted in the 1850s...
