Indian Group


Indian Group (50˚37'00" 126˚36'00" Between Crease I and Village I, E end of Queen Charlotte Str). Probably named in association with the important Kwakwaka’wakw First Nation community of Mamalilaculla (qv) on Village I. This was the main winter home of the Mamaleleqala-QweqwaSot’Enox people, with a population in the 1830s estimated at 2,000.
