Impérieuse Rock


Impérieuse Rock (49˚16'00" 124˚07'00" N of Entrance Rks, Nanoose Hbr, SE side of Vancouver I). HMS Impérieuse, a 7,620-tonne armoured cruiser with 14 guns, was based at Esquimalt, 1896–99, under Capt Charles Adair. It was the flagship of the Pacific Station’s cdr-in-chief, Rear Adm Henry Palliser. Before BC it had been the flagship on the China Station, 1889–94.
