Idol Island


Idol Island (48˚55'00" 123˚36'00" S end of Houstoun Passage, W of Saltspring I, Gulf Is). This feature is presumably named because of its former use as a First Nation burial ground. Artifacts may have been left there in the early days that were interpreted by non-Native visitors as idols.
