Iceberg Bay

Iceberg Bay (54˚56'00" 129˚57'30" S side of Nass Bay, NE of Prince Rupert). The name appears as Iceberg Bight on an Admiralty chart published in 1869. The Nisga’a people call this feature Ts’im Sgalt, from ts’im, meaning “inside,” and sgalt, meaning “goat horn.” The name refers to the shape of the bay, which the Nisga’a say was a channel during the Ice Age and achieved its present shape as the result of a meteorite explosion.
