Hunt Inlet


Hunt Inlet (54˚04'00" 130˚26'00" N side of Porcher I, S of Prince Rupert), Hunt Point (54˚06'00" 130˚25'00" N extremity of Porcher I). Hunt Inlet was originally known as Jap Inlet, which suggests, in derogatory fashion, that there was once a Japanese fishing community there (see also Jap Point). Jap Inlet post office opened in 1926, Jap Inlet school in 1928. Many Scandinavian residents also settled in the area; some of them were instrumental in the formation of the Prince Rupert...
