Hillier Island


Hillier Island (49˚02'00" 125˚19'00" W end of Pipestem Inlet, E of Toquart Bay, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Herbert James Hillier (1873–1953) acquired a number of Crown land grants in the area between 1907 and 1912, including one that covered most of this island. He worked at first as a coal miner at Wellington and then farmed with his brother William Hillier in S Saanich’s Mt Tolmie area.
