Hill Rock


Hill Rock (50˚07'00" 123˚50'00" Queens Reach, Jervis Inlet, NW of Vancouver). Named after James Hill Lawson (1840–1915), who was born at Dundee, Scotland, and came to Victoria in 1862 with his brother William Lawson. After working at the pioneer Alberni sawmill and farming on Saltspring I, James joined the HBC in 1865 and spent the next 25 years in Victoria as a clerk and assistant factor.
