Higgins Island


Higgins Island (49˚30'00" 124˚22'00" N side of False Bay, Lasqueti I, Str of Georgia). Hugh Harry Higgins (b 1841) pre-empted land in this area in 1882 and received a Crown grant in 1890. He also acquired a grant of land at Boat Cove, farther E, in 1912. Higgins served as a British soldier or marine for 12 years on the San Juan Is and married a very young Mary Ann Jaffrey (1873–1947) in 1887.
