Hallet Island


Hallet Island (53˚13'00" 132˚14'00" Kagan Bay, S Graham I, QCI). Capt Hallet of the sloop Random brought a group of coal miners from New Westminster to the QCI in 1865 to develop the nearby Cowgitz Mine. He made a hydrographic survey of the area in order to determine the best anchorages and wharf sites for the operation, which was ultimately unsuccessful and more or less abandoned by 1872. D
