Green Spit


Green Spit (53˚05'00" 128˚31'00" S shore of Khutze Inlet, E of Princess Royal I). This feature was formerly known as Ward Spit, after Ward B Smith, manager and mining engineer of the Western Copper Mine, located about 
8 km up the Khutze valley from the head of the inlet. The mine was active prior to 1910 and again between 1925 and 1932. In 1923–24, before coming to the coast, Smith, from Spokane, was active in the W Kootenays with the Surprise Group of copper claims at Howser Lk. See...
