Granville Island


Granville Island (49˚16'00" 123˚08'00" False Ck, Vancouver). The island gets its name from its location: beneath the Granville St bridge. Granville was Vancouver’s original townsite, laid out in 1870 on the S shore of Burrard Inlet, next to the Hastings sawmill. It was named for Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville, the British colonial secretary at the time.
