Governors Bar (54˚59'00" 129˚58'00" Off Gingolx, N shore of Nass Bay, NE of Prince Rupert). In 1869, BC colonial gov Frederick Seymour visited Gingolx (then known as Kincolith) aboard HMS Sparrowhawk to investigate a feud between Tsimshian and Nisga’a First Nations members that had resulted in the deaths of three men. He set off for shore in the ship’s gig but became grounded on this sandbar and was unable to land. Kincolith’s leaders had to come to him instead. Ninety-four years later...
