Golby Passage


Golby Passage (52˚01'00" 128˚25'00" Between Goose Group and McMullin Group, Queens Sd, SW of Bella Bella). Lt Cdr Thomas Maitland Wake Golby, from Victoria, was born in Sussex, England, and came to Canada as a child in 1909. A member of the RCNR, he was in command of HMCS Weyburn, on convoy duty, when the corvette struck a mine off Cape Espartel, E of Gibraltar, and sank on Feb 22, 1943.
