Georgetown Mills


Georgetown Mills (54˚28'00" 130˚24'00" Head of Big Bay, N of Prince Rupert). Only ruins still exist of the historic, water-powered sawmill that operated on Big Bay from 1874 until the late 1960s. Methodist missionary Thomas Crosby encouraged its construction in order to provide lumber for new “Christian” homes at Port Simpson and to employ Tsimshian First Nation workers.
